Default Can I swap my DX tank for an HF tank?

Just like it says. I've got a 1991 CRX DX, and I'm wondering if I can swap for the smaller tank. If so, how much of a pain will it be and how much ought I to pay for a tank? Thanks!

too expensive you can go to the junkyard and pick up a new tank for 50 bucks at most places

Why don't you just put less gas in your tank when you're going racing instead of getting a smaller tank?!

Yawn, I am not going racing. I am going working for better gas mileage. And yes I could just put less in the tank to reduce weight, but then I could not get good estimates of fuel efficiency and that is something I need when I test a bunch of crap out on the car.

Because if you care about weight, the larger tank weighs more.

Can't be that much more. I'm sure there's easier ways to drop weight (i.e remove spart tire.)

That's what I was thinking..... Ditch the spare and pick up a can of Fix-A-Flat

How much weight are you going to loose by removing the amount of metal that holds 1.3 gal??? You are talking less than 5 lbs.

Do you have A/C? Are your rear speakers still in the car, or radio for that matter? Have you switched to a lighter battery?

And if you are looking for a way to judge your fuel mileage, only put 10 gallons in the car at a time... There is a guage right on the pump. No matter what size tank is in the car you are only going to a certain point on the guage. Its not the most scientific approach but swapping tanks to save 5 lbs that a little extreme...

But if you think its worth it good luck...

Jump on the Pa Turnpike, head West towards Harrisburg.

I'll trade you my HF tank for your DX and I'll help you put it in. We have a lift at work.

Yahoo says 2hrs 30 min but that's at the speed limit.

That doesn't work. And not only am I look to save, albeit, a little weight, I am looking to go through tanks quicker so that I can run more tests on things involving gas mileage. If I get my car running 50-60 mpg, a couple gallon less tank will make a big difference for normal fill up times and such. Besides, if I can just trade with johnnie, what the hell. I'll be running and hf tranny soon enough, hopefull a vx engine, so why not a smaller tank. Honda went through all the trouble to make a totally different tank size so they must've thought it meant something. ^_^

Hell, I agree. As soon as I have a free day I'll drive out there mad early and get it done and it'll end up being like I slept really late, except I'm more tired and blah blah, shut up me.
