Fuel tank swap - DX tank to CX tank, how much weight saved?
I've gotta 1993 dx hatch with 11.9 gallon fuel tank. I have an opportunity to get a free 10 gallon tank from a 94 cx. How much weight is there to be saved? Is this easy to do? What kinda of precautions do I have to take?

well...I don't think it's worth the trouble, but if you MUST know, it'll save you 1.9 gallons of gas.

well...I don't think it's worth the trouble, but if you MUST know, it'll save you 1.9 gallons of gas.
yeah I don't think it's worth the hassle, just don't go race with a full tank

Weight?? One gallon of water weights approx 8lbs so I think you'd be better of running with your gas light on and go on a diet too.

I think a gallon of gas weighs about 8 pounds and then there is the steel so you sill probably be saving 20-30 pounds.
1.9 gallons of gas (so basically 2 gallons) 16 pounds then approximately 5-10 pounds worth of steel and weight. So i think about 20-30 pounds.

The CX/VX has a 10.0 gallon tank - the DX/Si has the 11.9 gallon tank.
Bigger STEEL tank would also mean that the tank itself is heavier even if both tanks are completely EMPTY.

But if you wanted to know exactly. Just get a empty 10.0 gallon tank and get a empty 11.9 gallon tank and the difference plus to gallons of gas is the weight you would save.

actually, something easier than that might be (if you want a close estimate) is that the gas tanks would be similar in design.
Weigh the cx (10 gal) tank, get the weight to size ratio and then just put in the larger gal tank into the equation.
My math skills are a bit rusty, but a ratio of size to weight should get you pretty close

I have no damn idea but we can conclude, its less steel, so its less weight, so you will be faster. 
So if you want to be super fasty man and you are a weight reduction nut like Tom, and you are getting the tank for free then I say go for it.

Yes but if you swap in a JDM cluster, along with an Integra fuel tank, you should have a gas light... so ive heard.
