Basically I take the cap off of the brake reservior. Then open up the brake lines and have a friend pump the brake pedal in the car. Then keep topping off the brake reservior with clean fluid. When clean fluid is coming out of the brake line, I stop bleeding that brake and move on to the other. Is this correct?

 

You stop bleeding the brakes once you have clean fluid and no air bubbles. I'd tell you to search for previous topics on brake bleeding, but it's down, and I don't remember enough specifics to tell you. But, if you get one of those one-man bleeder kits it'll have instructions on bleeding.

 

I actually do have the one man Motiv bleeder, but I want to do it the old fashion way...learn a thing or two. Can't always have the Motive bleeder around.

 

I think you're supposed to start with the brakes furthest away from the brake master cylinder and then go to the next furthest and so on.

 

But is my procedure correct?

 

ok you dont really wanna leave the cap off as crap might get in there and thats bad but do check the level often. start at the furthest whell from the master clyinder. have your friend pump the pedal three times then hold it down. when he is holding it down crack open the bleeder valve and watch out cause fluids gonna come out and the pedal should drop to the floor. close the valve before your friend takes pressure of the pedal or air will just get sucked back in. repeat till no more air bubbles at each wheel. keeping the fluid topped off. and your done.

 

Make sure the fluid level doesn't go below the minimum in the Master Cylinder. Start with the Passenger Rear.

-Pump brakes a couple of times
-Hold brake pedal down
-Open the brake line to release air and brake fluid
-Close the brake line

Do this until you get a steady stream (no air). Make sure you don't pump the brakes with the line open or it will suck in more air.

The order should be: Passenger Rear, Driver Front, Driver Rear, Passenger Front.

1.open reservoir / also get about a cup of brake fluid
2. attach a skinny rubber hose to the bleeder on brakes let hose hang down into that cup of brake fluid
3. get a friend to help, one person pump brake 3x and hold down on the third
4. once friend hold on the third pump. open bleeder watch the cup of fluid this allows you to see when there is no more air bubbles in the line{when bubbles stop in cup, no more bubbles in line}.


also there is supposed to be a certain order of which brakes you do first. but honeslty i've never seen it make a differnce, also during process make sure you keep checking the reservoir to make sure theres plenty of fluid
