I'm going at the track next week, now I got some problem with Vtec controller, (Msd rpm switch setup). The damn problem here is that I don't have any money to replace the rpm switch. So I have Heard about peoples plugging Vtec Solenoïd to a toggle switch, anybody got this setup, I already got a Shift **** with a toggle on it, so I plan to add a nother switch in serie for security reason ( don't want to hit the button accidently when not enough oil pressure). Then simply run 12 Volt to the solenoid with the Green/yellow wire. But do I have to pass through a relai?? will I just have to hold on the toggle, or do I have to release it when shifting???
any help greatly appreciated!!
thank you !!

come on!!! anybody can just tell me if the vtec solenoïd working on 12 volts???
i would highly suggest against it but yes the solenoid runs on a steady 12 volts.
just a warning. the battery probably wont give steady power. hence a fuse.
edit: if you do, do this. make sure you plug it into the correct plug. not the oil pressure conncetor.

speaking from personal experience.. i used this setup for a few months before swapping.. it DOES activate it, just dont abuse it and it can be rewarding.. i had a vtec controller, but i sold it.. so instead i hooked up a switch to activate the solenoid.. you can splice the power wire from the ecu (not sure what color it is) this uses a 12v current.. one wire from the ecu.. to the toggle switch.. then another wire straight to the solenoid (yellow/ green wire) try this at your own risk.

Yep i Know it's Getto, but what is so dangerous about it???? I mean, if the Vtec is activated over 5 000 rpm I'm am not supposed to get some problem nope???
well.. its really not all that dangerous.. the only problem i had was a blown ECU fuse.. i activated vtec with the switch, and boom.. car died.. find my ecu fuse blown. the only reason for this was because of the half *** wiring job i did.. i had no problems with the solenoid.. i sometimes tried activating it at 4000 and it worked fine (car went slower though).

O.K, so if i take another 12 volts supply in the car, like the wire comming from the lighter plug, I should have no problem at all? do you think it's dangerous for vtec solenoïd, how many Amp should I rate the fuse???
then is there any way I can arm my engine, except for activating with low oil pressure.
