Considering buying ITR- bad idea as daily driver?
Im sure alot of you have seen my car from photoshoots on here I do.. long story short my car is 90% sold and i'm considering an R as my next car, it will be my only car and daily driver to work and school. good idea or bad idea?
Mine is my daily and I love it. Puts more miles on it that I would like but at least I am making use of a great car. And for what its worth I am driving it as my daily with 12:1 compression and full NA build. Just be careful about theifs.

I've put 100,000 miles on my R in the past 5 years, with around 40,000 of them on 500lb springs. I drive it in the worst snow storms Va can dish out, I drive it 80mph to work every day and its fine. No complaints. It is loud, harsh, etc, but if you're a car guy, its not an issue.

Come on, can we stop being jerks and just answer the guy? It's a lot less pathetic of a thread than a lot of stuff in here nowadays. Some of us (me included) didn't see the other thread anyway.
In answer to the question, it all depends on where you live. If you think you might have a problem with theft/vandalism/general hating at school or wherever, it's probably a bad idea. If you don't anticipate those things, then it should be fine for whatever you need to do with it.
I used mine as a daily, but with the Spoon N1 my ears just started to hurt too much. I also needed something more comfy and that got better gas mileage...so I got a sportbike

I used my R as a daily driver for over 5 years and loved every minute of it. Like some one else said its a little loud inside and not the most comfortable ride, but if you like a well balanced car that's a lot of fun the R is a great choice. I wish they still made them because I'd buy another one.
I've daily driven mine for 4 yaers now with no problems. If you've got a reasonably safe place to park it, go for it. I've heard a lot of theft horror stories at schools, so that might be a concern.
The Integra Type R is within the top ten cars of all time for a daily driver sports car!
Here are some of the reasons I feel this way:
Gas Mileage: Expect between 20-30mpg depending on your driving style - especially with $3.40 a gallon!
Room: The hatchback style is pefect for a big TV haul, moving, throwing in go-peds, mountain bikes or 4 tires for track days.
Performance: Slap on good brake pads, firmer springs and some sticky tires, then invest in a driving school and be prepared to beat anything this side of a Viper!
Style: It is still a great looking car and will remain so for many years.
Reliability: If you find a well-cared for example, this is a Honda.
Comfort: besides road noise this is a very comfortable car for long-distances: mine participated in One Lap of America, The Type R expo trips, Driven to Pikes Peak Hill Climb and used daily! The seats in stock form are very comfortable and there are many aftermarket options.
Weight: Weight is a very key factor to performance. The Type R is the last production car made by Honda before they all got fat and bloated! With a few aftermarket pieces the car can be in the low 2300 pound range with increased fuel economy and easy 13 second time slips with a stock motor.
Exclusivity: Not that many around compared with other Hondas. In fact there are more Porsche Turbo vehicles on the road. Same for the Lotus Elise after next year.
Value: It may be more expensive than other Integras. But remember with each upgrade is a stock part that can be removed and is worth money towards the upgrade.
That is my thoughts!

My R is a daily driver. You just need the right mentality to drive an R as a daily driver; the mentality that it is just another car and if it is stolen, that it could be replaced.
Civic HX or Corolla makes the best daily drivers. Cheap, great gas mileage, relatively cheap insurance, etc.
If you want something to have fun in, then it's a different story.
