Cleaning up the engine bay?
I have already removed the power steering and A/C.. How would i go about removing the ABS? Also ill be converting my OBD2 to OBD1.. Now what else can i remove to basicly open the hood and see mostly just the motor? (cruise control gone also)
If I'm not mistaken, I believe that Hawkze_2.3 has a relatively light 4th gen Prelude, that has been stripped of almost everything in the engine bay, maybe he will chime in.
Yeah, I've taken out almost everything I can. Here's a current pic--

Here's most everything I've taken out. (It's not all engine bay stuff, but whatever)
--Entire ABS system
--Entire CC system
--Entire AC system
--Entire PS system
--EVAP system
--Intake resonator
--FULLY gutted rear interior (seats, belts, shelf, wiring, everything)
--Sound deadening material
--All carpet
--Spare tire, jack and related parts
--Rear bumper support
--Entire Radio and Speaker Setup
--Glove box
--Entire windshield washer system
--ECU cover
--Tons of nuts, bolts, brackets, clips, etc...
I put in a Civic sized radiator to clean it up some more--https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1189079
Here's roughly the car's weight (before the aluminum rad, D2 coilovers and JDM bumper support)--https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1156578
Here's an old thread on how to take out the ABS. It's a pretty rough write up, but it may help.--https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=830502

Sure it looks nice iwth everythign removoed. But honestly are htese street car? What the heck is the point of removing every component of the car that made the car more confortable for the sole reason for it to just look a bit cleaner.
If you have other alterior motives than that ok, but for the sole reason of making it look cleaner it ridiculous in my opinion. Don't get me wrong my engine bays are spotless and I re-route some stuff if it looks better, but to remove this much just doesn't make sense unless it is a race car.

Damn, that's awesome, man!! I must have missed that when you made it. Looks like a great write-up.

i don't know, this seems like the ultimate "i'm bored and have nothing better to do" effort.
people don't want to look in my engine bay, and i don't want people to look in my engine bay. it just gives them shady ideas, and there's nothing really worth seeing anyway...

I would tend to disagree. I am a perfectionist and I open my hood everyday and see what needs to be done, I don't care about what other people think, its all about ME being happy with MY car, you know? Plus, I do have something worth seeing under there

That's cool, to each their own. I'm sure there's some things i do to my car that others would think was unnecessary, it's just that i can't imagine myself looking at my engine bay and feeling a sense of awe.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Nice!
My list is almost as long. But where did you get that JDM rear bumper support? I want to do that front and rear.
Here's my list...
--No ABS system to start with
--Entire CC system
--Entire AC system
--Entire PS system
--Intake resonator/pipes
--FULLY gutted trunk (Spare tire, jack and related parts, etc)
--Parts of the trunk thanks to rust!
--All sound deadening material
--All carpet (probably put back in though)
--Only Radio and front Speakers
--Entire windshield washer system
--ECU cover
--Tons of nuts, bolts, brackets, clips, etc...
I drive on the street once in a while and my boys love to ride in daddy's car so the interior will be somewhat complete/presentable (carpet and rear seats and belts). How much do rear seats weight anyway!
So 2 questions, where to get JDM bumper supports (or do I just cut my USDM ones?) and doesn't the rear deck add to the body's structural integrity?
Here's what mine currently looks like but add the battery back in the front which is why you see that ugly tray (for track tech inspection reasons!)!

I only have the front support, but I got it from passwordjdm.com. They are having a special right now where you get the entire bumper assembly (cover, grills, lip, support, etc) for less than just the support by itself!
If the rear deck adds the structural integrity, I have a strut bar and c-pillar bar that should make up for any lost strength. It was pretty flimsy anyhow....

I wonder if they have any 3rd gen stuff at passwordjdm.com? I'm going to peak at the site now but did you have to inquire via email or phone or was it listed on the site?

Oh, so you have a 3rd gen?? I don't know if the JDM bumper support is available for those. You may be able to take some material off of your stock support.
All the 4G stuff is listed on their site, but I know they don't have any 3rd gen stuff listed.

I'm about to order my bumper cover/support/etc shipped to me for $150! BTW, Hawkze_2.3, do you have any pictures of your support? The reason that I'm buying it is because I need to fit a larger intercooler, and the JDM support is much skinnier, right?
