Default straight cut gears for the R. Pros and cons

I was given a ride in a civic typeR that had a set of straight cut gears and the sound and feel of the tranny was amazing. I wanna know if they are durable compared to the stock helical gears. And also who carries them .
Any input will be appreciated.

from the research i've done, they are stronger in every way.

they are also noisier and expensive.

if you can find a set, get the ratios you need and enjoy.

but i wouldn't go getting them for the sound or feel - more for the advantages of clutchless shifting + ratios needed.....

Curious why you didn't ask the driver of the car you rode in? Or what he told ya when you did ask him?

hey where in your area you get this ride? i live around in same area you know but as for the straight cut gears, i remember there was a thread a while back about a guy wanting to buy a straight cut gearbox from ebay. yes as everyone said above its a bit pricy, wont last long, very noise, and you have to be careful when downshifting
