Compression numbers
I just did the compression test on my d15b7 and here are the numbers:
cyl 1: 140
cyl 2: 135
cyl 3: 140
cyl 4: 140
What do you think? The engine has ~160K miles.
Is it good for 5-7 boost with a 14b?

Did you happen to pull all the plugs and do the test at WOT? The spread of numbers is excellent, but they're pretty close to min spec. Same thing happened when I did mine, retested at WOT, and I got 205 across the board.

Yeah, all plugs and wires out, testing one cylinder at a time.
Removed ECU fuse, and disconnected the top plug from the distributor.
At WOT, cranking 7-10 times by holding the key at start position.
Is that how you do it?
Btw, the engine has 160K miles so yeah... the numbers look about right to me. If I had the car from beginning they might still be in the 150s but I'm the third (almost the second owner) so I don't know how well the car was driven. The body looks great for a 92 though and I bought it about 10K miles ago. Did a tune up and everything.

Yeah, that's the procedure. You have a good spread of numbers, they're just low. You might try again, but this time put a little oil in each cylender. If the #s go up, you definitely have some worn rings (since the oil will help seal them better).
There's probably alot of usable life left in the motor, but I'd have a backup plan if anything should happen.

Yeah, I'm planning on getting a used d16z6 (or maybe jdm d15b... would you recommend it for boost up to 15psi stock?)
I'll try with the oil this time and see what happens. Do I need to remove the block to replace the piston rings? or can i remove the head and replace the rings right there?
