5th gear, 80 mph = 4k rpm on h23?
hi, couple of my friends who have civic, is300 etc... can reach 80mph at 3500rpm
but my h23 prelude reaches 80mph at 4000rpm.. is that right? if its not, what could be the problem? thx

my h22 is around that also, maybe a bit higher... they are geared lower for performance and acceleration... i also still get good gas mileage

You can put in one of the accord transmissions to get taller gears, but that kills your acceleration in lower gears too. There have been rumors here and there about people swapping tall 5th gears into VTEC transmissions to get good acceleration and cruise.

ALL H22 and H23 tranny 5th gears are the same. In fact, 1st and 5th gears are the same in the h22 and h23 trannies.
At 60, you should be running at approx. 3000 rpm. At 70, 3500 rpm, and at 80, 4000 rpm.

Not for all years. 4g VTEC trannies have an .870 5th, and 4g H23 and 5g VTEC have .812 JDM 4g and 5g trannies varry too. Just go by the tranny code and look up the ratios if there is doubt.
