Default 1992 Civic EX, is it a VTEC motor ??

Im looking into buying a '92 Civic EX and was wondering if all EX models came with VTEC motors or if it was just an option. It does not say VTEC on the top of the engine like I have seen in other Hondas. Thanks for an replies.

How the **** does an Si hatch sound better than an EX model? How does it have better compression than the other D16Z6 engines that come in other models, such as the EX, whether it be the Coupe or Sedan?

Is there anyway of telling if it is or not, by looking at the motor?

there should be a sticker near the cam gear, it should read a code with a D on it, tell us what it says and we will tell you what motor it is

how about both motors r slow, and u should get a swap on either one u get, so it really doesnt matter which one is faster stock.... as long as u get a vtec car it wont matter which one u get, swap em out

MOTOR SWAP is not the answer to everything- Or everyONE, for that matter.

Just look for a couple things.

1. the engine code on the block will say D16z6
2. look for the vtec solenoid right by the distributor should have a green plug
3. pull the passanger side kick panel in the car to be sure it has a P28 ECU.

1992 only had sedans and hatchbacks. The Helms manual published in Sept 91 says 1992 only had hatchbacks and sedans.
