Default rough estimate of d16z6 motor n trans

So my CX...its under powered and the tranny is long as hell. was thinkin...hmm TIME FOR A SWAP. Both of them make noises too.

I got about $1200 to spend. I was thinkin' maybe a D16Z6 swap w/trans etc etc SOHC VTEC not that great but a lot better than my 70hp current motor lol.

Anyone know how much it would cost to bring my car to a shop...have them order the motor n trans..pull my old one out..swap it in n make sure everything works fine? i hope its under $1200! thanks..id like 2 hear yall opinions and rough estimates.

if your going to do a swap going from cx to z6 is not a decent alternative (not hating i have a 92 si,, just saving this guy some greef)... you can simply get a z6 or 96+ civic ex transmission and it will move your whimpy cx alot better and quicker. trans will be about 200-300 or about that. the trans swap will be night and day compared to the cx one... and you wont stall going up hills.

if your dead on doing a swap, get into a b16 or b18 .....

but i would save your money and get a different transmission for now and then do a full swap when all the funds are there.

I picked up a full Z6 swap for $350. Well, tranny and motor, no axles/ecu/wiring/ect.

Buy the motor yourself and take it to the shop. Chances are they will overcharge you for the motor.

If you buy all the swap pieces yourself and then take it to a shop it'll probably run you around 1200 after parts and labor.

I traded my y8 to a shop for a $275 skunk2 im. Look for someone doing a swap who currently has a z6 and they will probably get rid of it for cheap since they are hard to get rid of with all of the b- & k-series swaps going on.

not that hard, even for some one who does not have a clue, and for the money yes a z6 will be a lot better than what you have now. then save up and boost the z6!

hmm i was thinkin about junkin my cx motor tho. its got 170k and it kinda knocks but that sounds good too. i bet it could run for about another year before it actually dies lol. but i love hondas cuz honda motors are CHEAP! <---honda song pt 7? hahaha

well i think ill do the tranny swap first them. how much would it cost for a EX/Si tranny with labor etc etc for a shop to do it for me cuz i dont necesarily have the tools. ive done motor swaps in a shop before but i kno id kill myself trying to do it at home lol. so yeah how much do you think a shop would charge? parts everything etc jus tranny.
