Default VTEC Malfunction

Hello,
i dont think ive ever posted here, but im in need of a lil help..
Ive been battling vtec malfunction for a long time now and im looking for some opinions.
I have a new Vtec solenoid, new cat converter (generic). i waste a lot of money on oil, that usually temporarily fixes the problem. My oil pan is not dented, and is not leaking. My drain bolt was leaking, but not anymore. wat else can it be? It works fine when im not turning. anytime i turn and put my foot down i get lag. and if i push it the CEL comes on.. TiA

The first thing I check with that code is the oil level. Then I remove the oil fill cap and look in the engine for signs of grunge and crud, (it doesn't take much to clog up the solenoid screen so it gets checked if the engine is dirty at all)

VTEC doesn't engage if you don't have enough manifold pressure or oil pressure. Get your oil analyzed to see if you have viscosity issues. http://www.blackstone-labs.com And check the connections. I'm not sure how a turn can disable VTEC except if the connections to the solenoid are not tight.

I usually recommend checking the oil pressure if to verify a problem with it.

I had the same problem with my vtec in my 99 accord. The first time the vtec was clogged with an *** load of gunk. but when it happenned again i was told it was because my oil was too thin. i was using the recommended 10w-30 but to run my car as hard as i do i was told to run 10w-40 and it hasn't shut off since. so if your in the higher rpms alot try running thicker oil.

p.s. also when your vtec valve collapses it saves a recording on your computer of your speed and rpms when the valve collapses so your check engine light comes on but as soon as you regain pressure your valve reopens and runs as normal so you may have a bigger problem to get such lag as you speak of.

Thanks guyz. Im going to try running 10-40 oil and see if it helps. Is running oil like that affect my performance or effeciency?
The solenoid is new, so its not clogged, unless it clogged up in 4 months.
How much does it cost for an oil analysis?
And last question if my oil is nasty, how would i go about fixing it?
Thank u sooo much!!

The screen is #10, where the spool valve mounts on the head. The solenoid valve is #11, so you don't have to remove the screen when you replace the valve.

So was the screen clean?

The guy who fixes my car always shows me the old parts from my car before making me pay. I think he changed the whole thing because he showed me the screen part with some junk in it. So im 99% sure its clean. Lol

If it had crud in it once it will probably have crud in it again.

check the codes, you have to put a piece of wire into a plug under your dash(glovebox)

Step1:
there are two plugs, there is one with three.....outlets, and one with two, pull the one with two out, take a piece of wire, and stick one piece of the wire in one end, and the other side in the other (use common sense)

Step2:
then turn your car on, and look at your check engine light the orange/yellow light on your gauge cluster.

It will blink and give you codes.

Step3:
take a pen and paper and write the codes down.
in order to read the codes you must understand how it works.
-a short blink is considered a one.
-a long blink is considered 10

So if it goes long long short short short..........that would be 23 (Knock Sensor)
for long short short short short short...........that would be 15 (Map Sensor) i think

Look the ecu codes up, search Honda-Tech you'll find it. goodluck

How about a couple of short oil changes (500 miles each?) or maybe some crankcase cleaner stuff? Can't recommend any from personal experience, but stuff like AutoRX or ???
