replaced the radiator hoses, but the accord still overheats. just checked out the car and the water in the reservoir was boiling. The upper radiator hose is really hot, while the lower one seems normal...any help with what the problem could be?

cooling fans seem to be working, was still on when the car was off.
bleed the system after the hose change.
how do you test the thermo?

Yank the little ^&%$*# from it's housing, let it cool off to room temp and plunk it into a pot of boiling water; you should see the thermostat open as it reaches it's operating temp. If it doesn't open all the way, Sh..t-can it and get a replacement.
One thing you might try if everything looks good, and you're ready to bang your head against the shop wall; Raise the nose of the car about 2ft off the floor, open the rad cap and start the motor. It MIGHT be airbound. Sometimes the bleed screw isn't enough. Top-off as ness.

if the lower hose is cool or room temp and the upper hose is really hot and car is overheating, don't even waste ur time to test the t-stat , that is what's wrong put a new 1 in ....chk radiator cap as well make sure it holds pressure , if rubber seal looks old, cracked, install new cap
Think!... If top hose it hot, the T-stat is good. If it was bad, it'd be cold cause the t-stat just before the top hose would have never opened.. If top is hot, and bottom is cold, that tells me that the obstruction is past the t-stat, prolly in the rad itself. Check for obstructions or air bubbles. While Accords are a lot simpler, BMW's have been killed cause air bubbles have inhibited the system.

I agree with desert.... the upper hose is hot.... right out of the cylinder head, andf the lower one is cold it is 100% no doubt a stuck t-stat. No question about it. Replace it, and your problem will be fixed.
