Ok so I was driving my car to work on the freeway and didn't want to roll the windows down, so I turn on my ac...and it doesn't work. So I just roll the windows down and forget about it. Then on the way home my car starts to overheat, I turn on the heater to take heat away from the engine at least for me to get home...and it doesn't work.
At first I thought I had a leak in my radiator or something, then I thought it might be the heater core cause my heater is not working. But there is no coolant leaking inside the car. From what I heard, if coolant leaked in your car and soaked your carpet, then its for sure the heater core, but I don't have that problem. So I can't figure out what the problem is. I might take it into a shop but I don't want them charging me a lot of money on the wrong problem. HELP...thanks in advance.

What exactly do you mean that the AC and Heater didnt work? Like you move it over to on and no air came out? Or it wasnt cold or it wasnt hot?
Behind the adjuster is a switch box, if youll call it that, that tells the heater core to work. You could have blown a fuse for that switch. Check under your dash if you see anything for a heater core/blower or anything of that type.
