Default Kuhmo ASX's or Falken Ziex 512's for DD?

I have an '05 ep3 that is the DD. I can no longer stand the oem tires, they suck in all driving conditions. Seeing how fall is just around the corner I want an aggressive all season tire. I will tend to ultra high performance summer tires next spring.

I have narrowed the field to the ASX's and the 512's. They both get good reviews and I think either would complement the HFP suspension package I have on the car. I think I am going to stick with the stock 205/55/16 unless someone has a compelling reason for a different size. What I am asking for help with is general drivability, rain handling and are they ok in very light snow. If anyone wanted to add any info about tread life, road noise or sidewall stiffness that would be great.

Thanks

Well, I can't speak for the ASX's as I have only had the Ecsta Supra Kuhmo's, but the Ziex 512's are GREAT in all weather especially rain and snow with their five channels. They are one of the only tires I had on my Tiburon that would keep traction here during the Ohio winters and heavy fall rains.

why not go with yok es100s? they are pretty cheap and work pretty well.

i am on my second set of 512s. terrific tire in the rain. they tend to get louder as they wear.

i didn't think the yokohama es100s were all that great and they wore out exceptionally fast.

i would suggest the toyo proxes4 too.

I have the ASX right now. Not that great - one tire has a small annoying lump in it, dry traction is ok, wet is ok, nothing to write home about however. get the falkens.

Well it doesnt sound like there is much debate here. Guess I will get the Ziex's. Anyone know who has the best price?

The only reason i chose to go with the ASX was because of the treadware. I had the ES100's and they were fun, but as stated earlier, wore too fast for my DD. I haven't had any experience with the Ziex, but they appear to be the favorite here.

(Auto-X'ing the ASX's is an interesting experience too :D )

I want to run the Ziex's on my stock rims during the winter and get an ultra high performance summer tire mounted on 16" steel gray ITR rims for the warmer weather.
