Hey Guys, I have a Viper 791, and lately the alarm has been acting funny in which when I hit the button to lock or unlcok my doors and arm it or disarm it, it wont arm or lock etc., It would just make that beep sound saying that it wasnt done, I would have to press it a hundred times or take out the battery in the remote and put it back in and keep hitting the buttons before it would finally work. When I look at the remote and press the button, the signal comes on but I dong see the other signal saying that it was recieved or anything.
What could be the problem with the remote or alarm, its driving me crazy.

 

Anyone know whats up?

 

Could be a bad brain or transmitter... If it was installed by a Viper dealer, take it back and have them swapped out.

Also could be bad alarm antenna.

Did you try a new battery? Those transmitters eat batteries pretty fast...

 

I had someone install it for me, but it wasnt a dealer. It says the battery is fully charged.

 

Then have that "someone" come back and check everything... Check power and ground, and check your door/trunk/hood triggers...

Since it wasn't installed by a dealer, your only other option is to send the brain and transmitter to DEI and let them check it out for you and see if it's a warranty item...

But it does sound like the brain is locking up somewhere....

 

i would say it's the remote...the 791's remote is notorious for going bad...

 

Do you know a good place to get a replacement and thats nots gonna cost a lot?
