Default Engine problem ; Jerking at low rpms

The R has suddenly started to jerk a bit at low rpms (below 3000rpm). Seems to work fine at high rpms. Haven't got any CELs.

Haven't checked the spark plugs yet, but they only have about 40000km on them and are supposed to last for 100k. I'm going to check them later today, but exactly what are they supposed to look like if they're bad?

What else might be wrong?

Thanks...

100K spark plugs!? Hmmmm. Doesn't sound to good to me.
Change the fuel filter.
Change the spark plug wires
Change the spark plugs
Test the fuel pump
Test the distributor
Test your timing

Remember, replace the cheap parts first and work your way up until you've nailed the problem (if you have no idea what is going on)

what sort of intake are you using...with short ram/open filters this can happen on hot/warm days when the intake sucks in hot air at low speeds

He's in norway so he's possibly referring to KMs so 100k = 62k miles
His have done 40k which is 25k miles and i'm assuming his car has OE NGK platinums if theyre supposed to last 100k Kms

I'm using a Mugen intake. I doubt it's that because it's shielded and has worked fine for over 2 years now.

Yeah I'm using OE NGK platinum spark plugs. What will they look like if they're bad? All black and covered in "dirt"?

Fuel filter is less than a year old. Spark plugs and wires is about 2 years old. Will check the plugs later today....

Exactly how can I test the fuel pump and distributor? Know of any good DIY?

IACV? Worth checking out. I had to swap out mine on my ITR due to the exact same problem.

Just checked my spark plugs, and they looked fine.

I've also noticed that the jerking only happens when the engine is warm. When I start it cold, it doesn't start to jerk until after 15-20 minutes.

Mornin' fellow Norwegianer

Have you looked at Idle Valve (its connected to your intake manifold and Throttlebody)? This is the unit controlling the idle, adjusting itself to maintain a stable idle. As I said - I had to swap out mine on my teg.

Also, check the distributor. It may just be a loose wire or bad connection somewhere. Anything I can do, just hit me up on MSN

So you had the exact same symptoms when you had to swap your IACV? Fine cold, jerky warm..... Hope a new one is not too expensive then.

Just for future reference, here's what my problem was. Very typical ; The rotor broke loose from the distributor and partly destroyd itself and the distributor cap. Be sure to use Locktite on the rotor....
