Default Did I get screwed on my bearings?

I just fully rebuilt my H22 block, as you can see in my sig. below. Now when I asked the guys at the machine shop (which has been around for 30 years) which bearings to run, they dropped in some Federal Moguls. I said well what about ACLs, but they insisted FMs were much better. Did they lie like the corporate bastards they are. Must I go back, and beat them until they changed the bearing to ACLs. I probably won't unless somebody tells me how terrible FMs are. But how can they be? They've been in the business for the longest. Aren't bearings.....just bearings?

i don't see how any brand of bearing could be bad unless it doesn't fit with the proper clearance. then again i've never built an engine, so what do i know?

i had recently built a b18c block to 2.0 liters with acl bearings. the block blew up on a buddy of mine's car. needless to say he isn't my buddy any more and stole my injectors and it was the bearings clearances and the fact that the trust washer was sitting in the oil pan after a few dyno runs.

if the clearances were off it wouldn't have mattered if they were Honda bearings or bearings made by Jesus himself.

when i assembled my block with the acls, the clearances on everything was just about perfect, i dont think i couldve asked for a better fit, as for FM all bearings are pretty much the same, i havnt used them since a mazda motor i built had one start chipping out....
