My hatch is a mystery....
OK, so i have a 92 hatch cx b16 swap and omnis on kosei k1s....nothing out of the ordinary or special...but for some reason when i take hard right turns there is a rubbing sound like the tire is hitting the outside of the engine bay, however it isnt. What could this be? any suggestions
I already have, swapped suspension, upper control arms and loosened then retightened every bolt on that side of the suspension. I had the wheel bearing replaced, and even the guys at the alignment shop couldnt figure it out.
Any ideas?

So it sounds like your tire is rubbing but its not? How long ago was your suspension replaced? Did you check the fender linings for any marks or evidence of any rubbing?

does it happen at slow speeds? if so, go in a empty parking lot or cul-de-sac and drive in a circle and have a friend listen to see if there is any rubbing. What axles are you using?. What kind of sound is it making exactly?

^holy ****, and I was looking at omni powers....
But anyway, rub some chalk on the inside of your tire and do waht you normally do and look to see where it rubs off.

no because it only does it on the right side, so i swapped left and right side and it still does it....as for the inner linings they have been checked and even though there arent any marks i lined up where the tire was supposed to be and took a grinder to it....So its not a rubbing issue.... it just sounds like there is something rubbing hard...
No it doesnt happen around slow speeds, just when weight is shifted onto the driver side of the car
Its not the omnis...unless weight has something to do with it only on one side and both would be bad
I doubt its rubbing cause i spend careful time making sure it was lined up perfectly...and it did it on steelies.
Oh and I am using Napa Unbreakables. The bolts on the mid shaft? are good thats and it seems as if it is in there tight...should i replace anyway...is there something that can go wrong internally on an axle?

yes, usually when people speak of their axles taking a ****, it happens within the boots

its been like this for a while though wouldnt they have already gone i always thought it was something else...tire rub, and didnt think much of it. When i got the new wheels i started to get concern... Is there a way an axle can go bad without completly taking a ****? and stay that way for months?

yes, do you have vibration from the drivetrane.
yes, do you have vibration from the drivetrane.
my axle broke a while back. It made a popping noise under hard right turns, or gradual rights while accelerating. It caused vibrations at 60 + mph. If i was under 60, and driving straight or turning left, you would never know anything was wrong. My problem was in the inner cv joint on my driver's side axle, and I had DSS Stage 1's.
I had the same thing happen when I got my Omni's. I was rubbing on the outside of the engine bay in the wheel well. My tires pretty much shaved it down so I don't have that problem anymore. I had an alignment and I'm running on 16's. How long have you had your Omni's for?
