Gettin a zex kit for my GSR (Questions)
So an old co worker of mine is sellin a used zex kit off his 2000 si, I want it on my 97 GSR... I need to know anything associated with running nitrous... I will prolly only spray 55 on the street and go to[B] 75 at the track..
1. Do i need colder plugs?
2. Retarding timing safe on engine during daily driving?
3.Will the stock clutch hold under the load?
4. How much would it cost to install?
5. Does it only engage when you floor it? Or just when you press the button?
Also my gsr is very strong, 70K oil changes and routine maintenance...
How much of a shot can a stock gsr handle safely?

in my old civic i ran a 55 shot on my d16z6 and i had it hooked up to the tps wire so when u hit full throttle it engaged. i used the zex plugs wich worked great and make sure u always run 92+ octane gas when u are sprayin as for intalation it is a peice of cake just go to zex.com and they will help u. im sure u could run a 75 shot on your b18c1 with no probs as for the clutch im not sure i never had any probs with it
I had Nitrous on my last civic (50shot N.O.S wet kit) I had the timing retarded two degree's but had it set back to stock because the car just sucked when not on the bottle. I would look at buying a controller that will retard the timing for you when you spray. Also a bottle warmer is not a bad idea either. For track use why not run some race gas (for your 75 shot) My buddy runs race gas with a Zex 75 shot on his D16z6 and he has had no problems (so far) like posted above you will probably need a new clutch tho.
Disclaimer: I'm no expert, only passing on what has worked for my and a buddy.

Ok so i need to know if im gonna retard my timing how will that effect my daily driving when not on the bottle? What is a bottle warmer for? How much to refill the tank of nitrous? How much for a mechanic install? Anything else anyone can think of, I want my gsr to be safe above all...
With my car's timing retarded 2 degree's the car was slugish and to me that was very annoying. A bottle warmer is a system that keeps the bottle pressure at a consistant level.
Speaking of bottle pressure, you will also want to get a bottle pressure gauge. If you get a electronic bottle warmer you can set it to turn on and off automatically to keep you bottle pressure in the proper range.
again I recommend some type of nitrous controller that can automatically retard your timing when you sqeeze.

Is there a way i can have the nitrous automatically cut off near the redline to insure i dont blow my engine... Also this kit is off a 2000 si will it fit my gsr no prob? Do i need colder plugs for the 50 shot? Can i spray low in the rpm range? Anything you can think of, i am completer noob in the nitrous department...

I think you can get a window switch to control when you want nitrous to kick in. You should run colder plugs just for the sake of safety. You can spray low in the rpm range, but don't do that in higher gears.

yep a window switch will do cut your nitrous flow off at a certain point. That kit should work on your GSR.
I suggest taking it to a shop or get someone that has some experience install your kit for ya. Taking it to a shop will be the best 150-200 dollars you ever spend. Unfortunately this forum does not have a ton of info on Nitrous. Everyone is going turbo nowadays but nitrous is a cheaper way to go fast. Let use know how everything turns out for ya.
