Nitrous questions...
Hi, I am looking at getting Nitrous for my car. I can get a hook up on the Venom VCN-1000 system for like $400 bucks, cuz the car team I belong to is sponsored by Venom, NOS, ZEX, etc. But anyway, I have a 1995 GS-R, with 116K miles, perfect compression, well taken care of engine, no oil burning, and a 2 month old clutch. I was wondering what all I would need (on top of I/E, cuz thats all I will have on it)? Can I just run it w/ some colder plugs (which ones?) and be on my way? How long would my clutch last? I only want to do a 40 or 50 shot. It seems everyone is against it and makes references to TF&TF when people ask, but if anyone already has it, that person seems to have a lot of respect. I dunno, I just had some questions, hope people can answer them (hopefully w/ out "OMG, NAAAAAWWWWWWSSSSS" or any other movie references), thanks for the help.

just get two step colder non-platinum ngk's and retard the timing a couple degrees and your set -- but with a gsr i horrible reccomend the nos plate kit. much better than venom...

I was thinking of that too, but I wanted the Venom because of the computer control. I want the nitrous to shut off if I am running lean. Should I still go with Venom, or the NOS plate (I have heard bad things about it). Also, isn't the NOS plate system a wet kit? Wet I heard is better.

the plate is WET. so are the NOSzles from NOS. You could use either with the Venom sytem... you would just have to do some parts swapping between the two... you would essentially be using the NOS system with a Venom computer.

i'm not tring to be hating on you, but how is that you got venom to sponsor you guys and not know anything about them? if i were you i reather ask and listen to the people who made the product instead of what others think and heard. thats be the only way you can really go rite.

Venom kit is not a good idea. That little sensor that senses the lean condition and shuts off the nitrous doesn't work so well. Many people have blown their motors with the venom kit. I also recommend the NOS plate kit. The plate kit fits in between the two pieces of the intake manifold on the GSR, and distributes nitrous/fuel in one mixture evenly to all of the cylinders. This way you don't get "puddling" of nitrous in one cylinder and a lean condition. It is adjustable from a 75 shot on up. For a 75 shot all you need are NGK copper plugs 2 stages colder than stock gapped at .030", and 2-4 degrees of retarded timing.

Alright, thanks for the info. I don't know how we got sponsored or anything, I just joined the team a couple weeks ago. But, they are also sponsored by NOS, so I'll look into what kind of hook up I can get on the plate kit. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, its cool, check out http://www.ar-racing.com. Basically, I think we are the Michigan chapter of Team Revolution, which is kinda nation wide. My redline is 8100rpm, why?
