Default wastegate question "beginner"

hello guys. Sorry for the stupid question but i'm trying to learn as much about turbo. I was looking at a wastegate on ebay and i so that the wastegate had 2 flange hole i know that one get intall in to the Turbo Manifold and the other go?

the other one releases the air out into the open or into the exhuast via a dumptube which looks like this

ohh i thought that the dumptube and the Downpipe was the same thing

Nope...they are 2 different pipes.

I only have the downpipe....no dumptube....my wastegate is open, exhaust gas vents into engine bay/atmosphere.

imo best is to get the exhaust gas out of the bay with a dump tube, back to the downpipe if you don't like the sounds and are willing to loose a little flow

I just have mine heat wrapped and shooting out toward the groud away from the inlet on my turbo.

okay the downpipe go to the exhaust and the dump tube go out the engine bay strait you. right?

the dump tube only goes so far to get the exhaust outta the engine bay..
