Can I tune the car myself with a s-afc and a/f meter?
If I use a s-afc and a a/f meter can I do a pretty good job of tuning by just trying to make it stay right around stoich the whole way up? I will probably get new o2 sensors so the reading are accurate.
if you get a wideband O2 sensor and A/F guage you could probably use it for some tuning but using the stock O2 sensor and A/F guage will be completely useless because the WOT statistics of the car are controlled by a predetermined progam not the O2 sensor.
Using an A/F guage with the stock O2 sensor is more like an "oh **** I'm leaning out!" warning than an actual tuning tool. It's not that precise. The only real way to tune the A/F ratio is by getting on a dyno with a wideband O2.

Yo,
An A/F ratio meter with stock 02 sensor is only going to be accurate in a very narrow range, right near stoich. You could say I'm rich or lean, but nor really how rich or how lean.
BTW, you said you would tune for stoich throughout the rev band? Generally, you will NOT make the best power or be the most safe at stoich, you want to be a little on the rich side. If you are FI, you want to make damn sure you are very rich.
Good luck,

but I would at least be able to tell if it was generally running too rich or lean.
but I would at least get it into the general position..that way when I do go to the dyno and I'm paying $100+ an hour I'll atleast be at a good starting position.
