Well the car ran fine. It has a z6 head on d15b2 block. Using z6 intake manifold (had to t one of the hoses)
Well I changed thermostat. The motor had a water pump changed before I got it (about 2 years ago). I did a rad flush.
The only things I think it may be are the heater core or the water pump.
It does not happen frequently. It happens whenever it wants too.
It happens mostly when I am stopped (which makes me think its the water pump)
And the heater does not blow out any type of hot air (makes me think its clogged could be affecting the fluid?)
In input thoughts, theories, hypothesis's???

Sounds like it is one of those. Think you answered your own question. Thermostat clogged?

Maybe bad thermoswitch? or your fan is shot?
There's only so many thing that can wrong with cooling.
Not enough coolant, thermostat, thermoswitch, fan, waterpump, or some kind of clogging.
Have you seen the fan come on? Does the lower hose get hot when its up to temp?

well this is oddd. I was revving it like crazy (joking around with my buddies srt-4) and then the temp shot way up and quick. All of a sudden I am hearing a pshhhh from the engine so I pop the hood and my overflow tank is over filled and spray some coolant out???
I doubt I have to much coolant in the system but I guess its a possibility. Any idea?

if it doesnt hold pressure, all of the above symptoms can happen
and its only a $4 test.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I agree, try a new cap or at least make sure it's holding pressure like it's supposed to and check to make sure the fan is working properly.

Last I checked fan was working I will double check when it happens again. I have a new headgasket, thermostat and water pump was changed fairly recently.
I will do the bleeding of the system. When I filled up the rad fluid I left the cap off and filled it as the levels went down. I thought this took care of the air bubbles?
I am going to get a new rad cap since its a cheap fix
thanks,
shane

if you MUST drive your car around i would suggest you wire your cooling fan to a button that way it always stays on as long as the ignition is on. That should help keep the motor cooler and possibly prevent more heat related damage...not to mention warping.

i wired my fan up to a button back when i still had my z6. stays on all the time, keeps the engine nice and cool and i'm hoping it will help prolong the life of my engine...specially living in hot as hell vegas.
