trying to troubleshoot and overheating issue. is it possible my water pump isnt really flowing the coolant through my motor? what are the signs of a bad pump? dont they weep out of the little hole on the top by the alternator bracket?

 

They can leak and they can make noise. They can also lock up. They very rarely stop pumping water. I've seen two, one was an aftermarket pump the impeller came off. The other was an old shitbox with antifreeze that looked like creek water, the fins were rusted off.
