Default Lucky me! I won a free track event at Lime Rock park. Please answer a few questions.

I went to an award banquet for the winners of the 2001 season of the National auto sport association (NASA) and entered in a raffle that one me a free track event at Lime Rock Park on monday November 11, 2002. I'll shortly be a member of nasa, so when I get there I should have an instructor, but please answer a few question 1) Should I purchase some special tires for this event, if so what type, size, and name brand is the best bang for the buck. 2) Are my stock brakes ok for this event, and if not can I get away with just upgrading my front pads with some high quality street/track pads, and if so what type and name brand do you recomend? 3) Can you post a few videos and/or pictures of Lime Rock? Thank you for your input. Oh, and on sunday March 10th I'll be at my first auto-x/NASA-X event. Can't wait, please give me as much info as possible. Thanks again.

Their web sight is http://www.nasanortheast.net check them out.

Your stock tires/wheels should be fine for one event, until you decide that you like this kind of thing. After 4 track days, I decided to get a set of dedicated track wheels/tires. Popular, cheap choices are Falken Azenis tires in 205/50/15, and Kosei K-1s are light and cheap also. Incidentally, this is the combo I'm using.

I used stock brake pads and fluid for my first 2 events. Then I started using Carbotech Panther Plus pads in the front, and ATE Super Blue brake fluid. hope this helps.

Lime Rock is a nice track, as well as the area. Went down there for a Porsche event and it was great. You will like it i you have never been.

1. do NOT get race tires or special track tires if this is your first event, they dont give much warning before they buck you, and thats bad!

2. get a front set of Carbotech Panther Plus pads and some ATE, Motul or other high perfomance brake fluid.

3. I would if I could

I think is hilarious... my dad grew up in CT...

He grew up racing his Opels and Fiats on that track... chasing after his dad. Kinda sux here in TN that I didn't get to learn on Lime Rock myself. From all the sims, that is QUITE a fun track.

Sorry, the track event I won is non-transferrable. I think I'll put my current tires on my 15" 11.5lbs. mazda rims. Any other good street/track front pads come to mind? what brake fluid do I use for a daily driven sometimes tracked R? And last but not lease can someone please post some video or pictures of Lime Rock Park? Thank you.

Was that you, who already paid for the event? Hope they gave you some great goodies in place of the $180.00 Grand prize event. See you there.

Congrats Anthony. Here's a recent thread about brake fluid that might be helpful. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=132733

BTW, glad I ran into you the other day - it's cool to find fellow H-T people in the area. You'll have to let me know how Atco went. I wanted to go, but it was a late night on Sat. and there just was no way I was waking up early.

Thanks great stuff

As for ATCO I got four runs with a best of

R/T .493
60' 2.255
330 6.206
1/8 9.396
mph 77.13
1000 12.064
1/4 14.463
mph 97.55

With full interior, 25F/45R psi, half tank of gas, 5500rpm launch, and loads of wheel spin against a worked WRX that ran a 12.523 at 105.24mph, but he only beat me by 1.592, Yeah yeah I know winning is winning it doesn't matter if its by an inch or a mile By the way nice to meet you too, maybe we can go NASA-Xing together on march 10th.

I didn't win anything...I can take a few laps at the track in both of your cars and give you a good driving line though...I have been to Limerock before.

LRP is a fun, fun track. The ITR can more than hold it's own as it is a momentum track with fast turns feeding into faster turns.

Having said that, be very careful. There is NOT a lot of runnoff in most turns and most of the track is crowned in the middle (so the car wants to fall off the track at the exits.) If you happen to run wide at the exit of the downhill, keep a steady throttle and gently come back on to the track. If you jump off the throttle, or aggressively turn back on the track, you'll join the hundreds of other tire marks on the track headed towards the eathern berm on the inside of the turn.

LRP has the best track food I've ever eaten. Great breakfast and lunch. Iron Masters has the most reasonable hotel accomodations.
