Default brake problems

Hey guys,

Was wondering what your thoughts were about this. Have a 1993 Delsol and it has started giving me problems with the brakes. It's doing it more and more frequently. As I am driving I apply the brakes and it works fine, then the next time the pedal goes all the way to the floor and they barely work. I could understand if a caliper was hanging up, but none of the calipers seem to be dragging. Im thinking its the master cylinder, but it sparatic. I have had MC's go out before on other cars and they start to get spongey and get worse and worse bt never work and then dont work, and then work the next time, but never this. Any thoughts or comments?

Additionally if I have to replace the MC are there any other MC's I could use as an upgrade for my Del Sol S 1.5? Like integra or something?

Thanks in advance, Tom

your master cylinder is leaking internally. the piston seals aren't allowing you to build fluid pressure. you need to replace the brake master cylinder.

Agreed on the MC

I would just replace it with whatever is in it. Brake systems have formulas for calculating the braking force via MC lines and piston size in the calipers. Although you could gain some braking ability you would also have the chance of getting something out of wack too. Besides I doubt the MC would be the weak link in the system, your brake fluid will most likely boil before you exceed the limits of the rotors and pads. ]Unless you use the car on a track its just not worth the hassle.
