Explain typical rear end problems on S
What are the symptoms of a rear end going bad on a 00 S2000.
It there a noise a creak at preload?
Is this the PIG or the half shaft?
Any input would be great.
Or are they just noisy in the rear?

you'll hear a clicking sound or a buzz from the rear end..... and you want to catch it before it completely goes kaput.. otherwise you're gonna be fucked with towing bills

Check the diff fluid level? How about your CV joints on the half shafts? Or wheel bearings? Noises coming from the "rear end" isn't very specific, especially when you hear them from the driver's seat.
The clicking I hear is when I'm slowing down. Do about 17MPH in 2nd gear in your S2K and just let off the gas. The click coming from my rear sounds like the wheel in wheel of furtune.

Common issue is the rear center hub nut (or spindle nut). Tighten the center hub nut to 220lb...if the click stops then you have your fix. Unfortunately, the loose nut will probably have caused some premature wear on the wheel bearings. You will have bought some time once you have tightened the hub nut, but you will probably need to replace the bearing fairly soon (and possibly the hub as well...inspect it to see once the bearing is out).
Note: If you let the spindle nut go loose for too long, that click will turn into a squeal and the bearing will be shot and hub ruined for sure. Expect ~$150 for bearing and hub each side.

Ive sold a few Kaaz LSDs with the comptech rear housing
no problems there
now the axles break
time to start selling better axles

I had a rear diff to blow, and befor it did it made a constant roaring like sound. It made this noise for a while, and finally a gear broke and the whole housing broke apart. Had to replace everything.

And do you know what it sounds like when you let it go for too long? Having just had this happen on my car, I can tell you that the clicking grows progressively worse to the point that it sounds like a bad CV joint, and then to the classic squeal of a bad bearing.

I did find a TB on this it had to do more with the half shafts. It explained to take them off and you needed to put a special silicone grease in there. They explained the problem as a grunt at low speeds or turns.
BTW if one was to switch out the rear end what are the options available?
And what ratio?

Sorry to bring this back from the dead. Put i have fixed my noise problemwith my rear end. I purchased a car with a slight clunk or grunt when at slow speed and starting to turn. The problem had to do with a the rear axel shaft and it needing lubrication.
This only cost me less than 200.00 at the local dealer. Just go there and inquire about a TSB reguarding a grunt at low speeds.
Thanksfor your help.
Good luck
