A minor annoyance I'm facing here. There is a distint "clunk" when the clutch is engaged in every gear. Its somewhat loud in the lower gears, but faint when the car is moving and I'm in a higher gear (3rd onwards, of course, the exhaust sorta drowns out any noise anyways). I also get the same noise when disengaging the clutch (again, more distint in lower gears). Anyone care to guess whats causing this? Recent maintenance includes replaced axles 2000 miles ago. Other than that, the car runs fine. Suggestions appreciated!
The sound you're describing is common when motor mounts or torque mounts go bad.
Start by checking 3 of the 5 mounts in your car. Don't worry about the 2 that you can see from the top of the motor.
1. Front Left torque mount (also A/C bracket) going to underside of frame
2. Front Right torque mount from Trans going to underside of frame
3. Rear motor/trans mount
