Default jdm itr header/ground clearance

i was thinking about getting the jdm itr 4-1 header for my 01 gsr. my question is how bad is the ground clearance with this header. ive heard people had problems with it. does anyone have any problems with the clearance? pics would be great.

Depends on if the car is lowered or not, really. I have the DC JDM 4-1 knockoff on my R and I very rarely have trouble (my car is also lowered over 2".). If you are at stock ride height or lowered even 1.5" I think you will be ok.

Early this summer I traversed a F'in crater and ever so slightly dinged my header, I thought the car was going to snap in half from the NYC pot hole.

I'm on the stock suspension, other then that incident I have not really worried too much.

OEM JDM 4-1 has much better ground clearance than a DC JDM.

OEM JDM fits perfect.

These are pics of my old DC JDM 4-1, 2" dropped on my EG.

2 inch drop... Not much going to help you, unless you go with a stock exhaust manifold. But you might run the oil pan into the ground

Is that a hole on the manifold? Right after the bent portions?

I have the cheap but effective Megan Racing 4-1 on my EG and its dropped about 2 inches. I never have any problems much with it and it hangs slightly lower than the stock JDM 4-1. I do have a couple scratches on it but no dents which is surprising since I live in Albuquerque, NM and the streets have several obstacles.

If you want good ground clearance then the T1-R header is the way to go. Good clearance regardless of the chassis its on.

You can see in this shot that the DC is lowest in the front, right where the tubes bend under the pan, it then goes up at an angle. I find it really funny that all the companies that copy this header also copy this characteristic. Just goes to show when a header gets copied, the people that are doing the copying don't know anything about building better headers..... they only know how to copy.

for this thread, was looking into a DC or OEM 98-spec header and the main concern was ground clearance

After at least 5 revisions, this is the ground clearance you get from one of my headers. Not as good as the OEM JDM but still decent.

Well yours is better, since you have the "GSR style" version. An ITR owner would have to do away with the tranny/block brace to run something like yours.
