i recently put a custom, adjustable "L" bracket on the swing arm and attached the license plate to it. with all the bouncing of the bike i had to angle the plate so it wouldn't make contact with the exhaust.

has anyone had trouble with the law for:
1. just having the license plate somewhere other than where it is supposed to be (stock fender)

2. having the license plate partly hidden because of the splash guard on the rear tire

3. having the plate angled at an angle other than 90 degrees.

PS> what about laws regarding fender eliminators?? i have integrated LED turn signals. waiting for a cop to pull me over for not having my stock turn signals.

PSS> what about HIDs? i replaced my weak halogens with a conversion HID kit. now my lights blaze...waiting to get pulled over for that too...

although im not a cop, i don't see an issue with having integrated turn signals. As long as you have red tail lights and amber (or even red) turn signals, you're legal.
As for the HIDs, i'm pretty sure HIDs are becoming widely illegal if not a stock option. If a cop pulls you over for it, just tell him you'd rather be visible then dead.

 

I use to work with a policeman on my last job, and asked him alot of these questions.
This is comming from a NC Policeman, but most are a general rule.

-It is illegal for having the plate anyway but horizontal.
-It is also illegal if the plate does not have a light to light it up at night.
-It is illegal to mount your plate with zipties and have it flopping and swinging around.
-Integrated LEDs are ok, I have them and showed them the the cop and they are legal, they are right above my plate(mounted under tail on fender eliminator).

Although these things are illegal, not to many cops will pull you over for just these things, unless your plate is completly unreadable.

 

Yeah it doesn't seem like people have a lot of problem with the license plate issue. I see many on the bottom part of a fender elimination.

 

i got mine tucked under my undertail exhaust on my 600RR and no problems. i even got pulled over the other weekend for doing a wheelie and he ran my plates and said nothing.

 

i have no light on mine and is mounted vertically. so far no static from the five-0. i do ride alot at night. no problems so far
