I once (in another car) couldn't get past 3K no matter how far down the pedal was. Turns out a piece of honeycomb in my cat had broken loose and was clogging the exhaust. It's a long shot but maybe during the swap he cracked the cat, or knocked some stuff around. Not very likely but it's my $$0.02

good luck

Unfortunately when it comes to swap anything could be wrong.

Sounds like a problem with the distributor - did he have to rewire anything there?

Have you guys checked for any check engines codes being stored? It's hard to believe that an engine not revving over 2500rpm wouldn't have any check engine codes.

.</TD></TR></TABLE> agreed.... have a look and make sure that the TPS sensor and MAP sensor are plugged into the proper plugs. They're the same plug so it's easy to **** it up... I know that the car will load on fuel and run like **** when this happens... just a thought..

also check your wires to the distributor from the ECU. IF you cant find the problem elsewhere...

get a volt/ohmmeter and test the relevant plugs on your wiring harness plug that goes to the ECU. I had the same symptoms from a short on the firewall and that located it quickly.
