bogging down
have a 1997 civic lx. have replaced 02 sensor s plugs wires cap rotor. after it runs for about 10min it boggs down and starts sputtering and barely runs. runs pretty good for the first 10 min. little miss about 35to40.the exhaust pipe glows cherry red after the cat if you keep running it after it starts bogging down. any ideas of what to look at thanks.

Re: bogging down
When it bogs you say it's only throwing the transmission code? That's hard to believe because it sounds like your car is about to blow up. Is this an automatic?

Re: bogging down
google "red hot cats" and u will get plenty of posts. my old car did that after the engine got "washed" in coolant. but yeah red hot cats means the fuel is not burning correctly in the cylinder and is BURNING IN THE CAT. kind of a big deal.

i think the codes reset when the battery went dead. now all it is showing is the tranny code.something drained the battery. maybe ignition idk will have to look further.

Re: bogging down
The ECT sensor is located below and just forward of the distributor.
