Mike K - You Opinion on Honda's 5w-@20 Oil.....
Hey Mike, I noticed you were using Honda's 5W-20 motor oil. Do you have any opinions on this oil , any information given to you from Honda/Acura ?. I have always felt a 5w-30 regular oil was kind of on the thin side, 5w-20 must be even thinner. Could this be a semi-synthetic oil from Honda like they have being advertising in Asia ?, I would feel more comfortable with it if it was. I am sure the oil would have some benefits in terms of fuel efficiency and possibly worh a hp or two on the dyno, but I would be concerned about reliability under hard driving conditions with a modded engine. Any information would be cool, thanks.

5w-20 oil is standard oil for the the newer civic '02 and up. including for the rsx and the new civic si (k-motors). yes, its thiner due to the engine having tighter clearances. noy sure in details, something i know we have to used at work. don't bother knowing too much, i have a freaking headache
well Mike K wont see this till monday, the bastards in tampa watching save the day, and weezer, and doing god know what
5w-20 is being used by new Hondas Civics and accords. I personally would not use 5w-20 because it is THIN. My friend has a 01 accord V6 coupe and it said use 5w-20. The funny thing is that the previous year, 00, uses 5w-30 and they both have the exact same engine.

Joey - if you are hard on your car, run 5w-30 or 10w-30.

don't cry. i shipped out the pistons.
5w20 is good. i use it because it's thin, it's Honda and it's cheap.
i don't bother with synthetic anymore because I change my oil less than every 1000 miles.

Must be nice to work at a dealership...
I'll try and find some info on the ol' black beast today Criag.
Kewl thanks Mike. Dunno if you want to tell Bob or not, but I called corp and told them I want a new short block. They are going to call me back today or tomorrow and let me know what is going one. Main reason is, reliability. I've got a bunch of road trips planed with the big one to expo. What happens if my bearings go out again, cause there was another problem besides the crank and I get stuck in bumble fuq?
Again, thanks for all your help, I know you can only order what they tell you, but thanks for just keeping me in the loop. You rock.
