Default How do you blow up your engine?

Guys, I've come across a lot of replies here having to do with blowing up an engine by revving it too high or by accident? Can someone please explain this to me a little bit further? I have a stock D15B2 with boltons and drive hard most of the time, still have a rev limiter and stock ecu with no chip, so I at most rev it to about 7000 but usually just only between 5000-6000. Can I also blow up my engine by doing this?

what happens is when you mis shift or rev too high. your valve springs can't handle it and break. then from there its a domino effect. valves drop. **** up the chemistry in your combustion chamber and you get a melt down.

sometimes you'll get lucky and just bend a few valves. because your springs aren't doing its job good enough and you get piston and valves touching.

thats why theres the option of stiffer springs

Ok, and by reving between 5000-6000 on a stock motor and only sometimes up towards 6 and 7 K, will this have any negative effect on the motor, can I damage anything or should I just take my foot off the gas and chill? Or is this still ok since I have no chipped ECU and still got my rev limiter?

Well yeah. i wouldn't go to 7k on a D series motor almost stock everyday for that matter, maybe like every couple days or a week for fun anyways.

Or another possibility. Your connecting rods are getting weak from overrevving so much that eventually they will just snap and make a hole the size of your first on the engine block.

Happened to me late at night on the freeway with my old D15B2.

What do you mean by overreving so much? Do you mean to 5-6-7k or what?

He means that if you are reving high all the time 5-6 or higher then your motor does take a beating. It can handle it but it cant handle this forever. So eventually it will blow up. Now if you drive like an old granny and shift at 3000 every time you drive your car then it will last forever and then some!!!!

here's an example of what this will look like

mis-shift on the highway while messing around. It sucked but i learned a important lesson that day. don't remove your rev-limiter
