AEM CAI Rubbing!!!!Help
Well I installed my CAI a while back on my GSR. I took it to the Acura dealership this friday and told me that i might wanna check the intake because it was rubbing against my air conditioner hose. The one that is right under the intake. Has anyone had this problem before? Or does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance
I had the same problem before but it wasn't the AEM CAI, I had RS Akimoto intake and the tubing basically just sat on the A/C line. Then I switched to AEM CAI, and I don't have anymore problem (at least up to now, I'll check mine tomorrow).

Heres what I did.
Take a piece of foam or cloth and duct tape it on where its rubbing, worked for me. You really cant see it either. Dont need it now tho, took my A/C out

But its like a hose with like a metal pipe in their! Can it really do damage? Its just pushing against it. Should i mess with the pipe and like push it down or wrap it with something like foam?
wrap it with something, pressure wont hurt it, but it vibrating against it will and can cause a hole to get worn in it, also check the area around the subframe on the AEM for scratches, that can also be a problem area.

same thing happened to me. I got a piece of 1" (diameter) heater hose, cut about at 2" length piece, sliced it down the middle so I could wrap it around the A/C piping where the intake was rubbing, and secured it with a couple of zip ties. Worked like a charm, but you gotta take the intake off to do it.
I've had the same thig happen on my LS. I just wrapped a cloth around the AC lines so that the intake wouldn't sit directly on top of them. I have seen an intake actually eat through the rubber surrounding the AC lines and melt into the AC lines and it completely shut his AC down. He brought it in for Warranty work but they charged him for it.
This happens on a lot of intakes, just follow what neo did..its your best bet, you could also wrap in foam, and then cable tie to the line to give it more stability and less vibration...

How can you tell if its rubbing or not? Where exactly is this AC Line located under? I have an AEM CAI as well, and I'd like to check it out before anything happens.... LMK. THanks!
Yup, even though it's a metal pipe in there, it still wears away. Before my intercooler piping, my RS Akimoto intake went all the way through the rubber insulation, and halfway (almost) into the metal. There was like a rounded groove in the A/C line.
Well, I just wrapped duct tape around it and zipped tied it secure. Now that I have intercooler piping....no more problems.
There's your solution...get a turbo. Hehe.
