A Handful Of Trouble*Help*Please..!
The other day I was driving to go pick up some parts and, I roll up to a stop and the car just shuts off. The car was in nuetral rolling up. I noticed this doesn't happen in gear.
I thought it was the plugs . So I went and bought for everything for a tune up.
Plugs
Distributer cap
Distributer rotor
fuel filter
While I was changing out the spark plug, I noticed in the # 2 plug there was oil. I guessed it was because the plug wasn't tight enough or the plug gasket/seal/grommet(whatever) was shot. Replaced that.
Now get to the cap and rotor. My rotor broke off in the distributer. When I took it off the rotor was all loose. The part broke and it was missing the cap so It wasn't giving a good spark.
After replacing that, I though my trouble would be over... The car wont turn over.
So I tell myself it's the ignitor. I checked it and I got a spark. Then I checked the fuel pump and it's good.
So now after changing plugs, cap, rotor and, filter it doesn't want to start.
It tries to start but it's just not getting a spark, or it''s not getting fuel. I checked for codes and there were none...
Has anyone had this problem....Helpp...I need to get to school...

im in the same boat man but my shiz is turning over....everything in the dizzy, pickup coils, ignitor, wires are testing good, even bought a new ignition control module and nothing...I dont get it
I about to test the wires from the ecu to the dizzy but need a pinout before I do that.
Are you swapped?

I think i found our problem, in the distributor by the ignitor there is this red grime sort of stuff. My neighbor said it was common in honda's. He said it causes the distributor to seize. Try spraying WD-40 on the ignitor. Let it sit for about twenty minutes. Then crank it. My started I just don't know if that's the problem.
yes I am swapped with, a b16

put some thing long and metal like a flat head or some thing in he pluge wire (where the sparke pluge sits in it) your the flat head needs to tuch the metal part ing th plug wire and ark it of the valve cover and start the car then you can tell if you are getting spark. do it an all 4

XXX foe life man... toe it to a shop if you want it done and just to run (but count on spending some and don't count on quality unless you know some people...) at least you'll get your gf and get to school to get an education
mine does the same dam thing sometimes, like it wont start after settin for some time or after havin drivin it for awhile,i have a buddy who is like a honda god(really crx all motor running 9's in the quater) but he said it is the main relay b/c his ef does it also
ok, reddish dirt in the distributor is bad. whoever told you it's common in hondas is a fucktard. it's a good sign your distributor won't be lasting much longer, but you're right about the seizing part at least.... that's what ends up happening, but unfortunately all the WD-40 in the world won't fix it.
now, are you saying the thing won't turn over at all? like your starter won't even work? if that's the case, check your grounds (maybe you knocked something loose when working on your distributor). if that doesn't help, you might have a bad main relay like somebody mentioned.
if it is turning at least, but the car just won't start, make sure you got your firing order right (if you accidentally mixed up spark plug wires when you replaced them). if that doesn't help, make sure your plugs are all gapped to spec.
Finally, where is the oil on your spark plug, on the top half or where the spark is? oil on top of your plug means you just need new o-rings (the rubber ones that go under the valve cover - has nothing to do with the plugs themselves) but if you have oil on the bottom end, then you're getting oil in the combustion chamber, which can come from a couple of places, but you couldn't possibly foul one plug bad enough to stall an engine anyway.
well, try some of those and let us know how it turns out for you.

It sounded like the fuel pump took a dump. But you said you got it started?
Also pull the main fuse for at least 10 seconds, then plug it back in. Its an outside chance that the ECU just needed to be reset.

at this point I know it's the coil in the dizzy.
it will turn over, it just wont start. I check all for plugs for a spark and I have one... its just a weak one. So i guess it the ignitor or coil.
I Fixed the oil in the sparkplug, It was the grommets for each plug,.
