how difficult is it to change an oil pump?
i might pick up a gsr, but it needs an oil pump says the owner. from what i understand its like a timing belt, only a couple more steps.
never changed a timing belt before either, but i dont think i'd have too much a problem..minus the crank which i'm sure i can rig up eleventy billion breaker bars.
the owner says this about it: it needs an oil pump. I have a Toga High FLow oil pump, but something is wrong... I am getting 100psi of oil pressure at idle. So IN MY OPINION, the pressure relief valve on the oil pump is messed up.
he's including an ITR one.
thanks.

For me, messing with the crank is a pain since I don't have the resources to get it off easily. So I'd go to a shop and get it done. But that's just me. good luck!
As long as you have the tools, changing the oil pump isnt too hard....seeing as i dont know what the idle psi should be for the toga i cant really comment...but it does seem to be high, which would be due to the PRV float/spring.
At idle no oil pump should be producing that much oil pressure.....more so no gear driven oil pump is going to produce that much. The pressure relief valve is set at near 100psi so it really has nothing to do with your oil pressure at idle.

so is it fixable without changing pumps?

Check the oil pressure yourself. My guess is he checked it when the car was cold in which case it probably was up near 100. My kicks in on cold mornings around 70ish and then will drop to 20ish when the car is warmed up. Thus, if he has that high pressure pump in, chances are it will put out more pressure, so do yourself a favor and check it for yourself.
