do most of you guys use your power steering?

A lot of people remove the pump and loop the lines with the power steering rack. Some go manual rack. Some just go after the whole thing with a sawzall until the power steering stops working.

I use power steering. It enable me to drive more precise and don't have to fight through the turns. Most modern racing cars now run power steering. Go to World Challenge races, almost everyone run power steering.
With the power they make though the extra 5 hp isnt really as crucial.
I have the rack looped. No A/C either so I've been running a CTR N1 pulley for a couple months with no problems so far

The last track event I did I took off the belt, I really liked the feeling the caR had. I think I'm going to get that P/S removal kit that the guy sells on HT...
It's tough living in NYC without P/S tho... so much parallel parking

Power steering sucks. Well, at least in an ITR. It's way overboosted, which is why mine is already out. Well, ok, and I gain a little hp and weight loss
I took my PS out in my ITR and then put it back in. I found that fatigue set in pretty quickly for me as I'm not like you young fellas.
I have the norice kit (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=462824) if someone wants to offer me for it...

Can't you just remove the belt to try it out for a weekend? Or do you mean going to a full manual rack?

Mine's still connected on my own car, mostly because to stay IT legal, I'm pretty sure you have to have the pump there and connected anyway. Plus, the reality is, I'm an out of shape 32 year old computer guy. I'll take my 225-45-15 Hoosiers and 6 degrees of caster with a side of power steering thanks.
I've never thought that my GS-R's steering lacked any sort of feel, nor do I think Catch 22's ITC car (which has manual steering from the factory) feels much different. Then again, I'm the sort of driver that when asked what I'm doing in some corner, or how the car feels, I usually shrug and say "I dunno."

Or "Its Fine."
As in, after you crashed into the RE and I said "How is it handling?"
"Its fine."
Yeah... If 1/2 inch of toe-in on the right front is "fine."
It was, in fact, fine.
Scott, who discovered that toe-in during his qualifying session when the car tried to drive itself off the track on the back straight.

whoever says that 1 or 2 HP doesn't matter has never dragged out of a corner
NO PS and out of shpae but like it a lot,it makes you be a lot smoother through the corners because your inouts mean so much more
also get loose in a fast corner with power sterring and without and see which one os easier to correct adn save

Yank it. I removed the ps pump on my accord, and while it is different and takes some getting used to, the car feels so much better.
I still drive the car to the track, have autoXed, and raced it both with and without the ps. The only time it can be a pain is when Im trying to find a space at the grocery store.

I hav kept mine on my race car and I'm glad of it. Anyone who drives the car always exclaims how easy and comfortable it is to drive and I'm sure part of that is due to the fact it still has pwer steering. I have tried Civics of the same generation without it and did not find it to be better in any way.

I was convinced to removed mine from our #66 car in 2003 to save a couple of HP!And Drove a Pig for almost a whole season...
Now, finally it's back on! and I would'nt ever be without it.

preferred not to have it- ran a manual rack for years (HC/NASA)...returned to also run w/ ITA/SCCA- had to put it back due to class rules.
i just try to buy cars that came w/o power steering. makes it easier on me
the only car i own with ps is the one that hasnt, and wont, see any track besides the 1/4

I'm much happier w/o power steering. It stops me from using too much steering input and subsequently baking the front tires, and I find that the steering feel is much more direct. Also, there's no worries of the fluid in the rack cavitating and stopping the steering assist halfway through a slalom.
