Swapped out Mugen ECU for OBD1 p28 and lost power
I had a obd0 pr3 mugen chipped ecu and it grabbed really hard, especially revving past 7K and shifting, the car would jerk forward hard after every shift and the wheels would spin. Id get whiplash if i didnt have a headrest. The only bad thing was vtec was 4400.
I just converted to obd1 p28 and it doesnt have as much power and aggressiveness at the top end. Shifting in the higher rpms doesnt have the same bite. Will tuning fix this? I did gain a tiny bit of midrange with the p28. Im planning to go hondata soon.

If the p28 your running is not chipped for your vehicle's setup, you obviously will lose power. Get the obd1 ecu chipped & be happy :-)
the mugen chip runs pig rich and its not good to run thoses (onesize fits all) chips because every motor is different. have your car tune.

yes its chipped

Yeah, tuning your motor would serve you 100 times better than running the Fake *** Mugen one you have. You'll get longer engine life, increased power, and will save thousands in gas; if it keeps going up the way it is, over the duration of a few years.

Tuned ECUs for a while...
The P28 may not be tuned to your motor's liking....I assume it may be leaner that what the motor likes since you say it runs better on the mugen ecu which does run pig rich.
Also, make sure your FPR and distributor timing is set to stock settings.

well the mugen didnt run well until i hit 5K and thats where the power came in. When i would hit vtec at 4400 i would lose power. I guess the p28 has better low end. Hope to get it tuned asap.
