Default To paint, or not to paint. That is the question!

The CF hood is getting painted CW to match the rest of the car...

Question is should I paint the J's duct or leave it black for contrast?

My question is who is it made by? If it Vis then paint it. I keep seeing people that have Vis hoods and they fade pretty fast, but it could be they are not taking care of them. I have one and mine faded really bad and I took care of mine. If you paint it then you would be using it for in intended use, and that's function.

paint that ****!

Buying a cf hood and not painting it -- is like -- buying a body kit from importfan.com and ridinging around w/ a blue fiberglass kit (unpainted) primered

he's not asking about the hood being painted or not, its already been established that he WILL paint the hood. what he wants to know is if he should paint the J's air duct on the bumper.

leave the J's air duct black.

i say paint the trim that overlays onto the bumper and leave the rest black so it looks the same size as the vent on the other side.

Leave is black. If you paint it, the driver side vent will make your car lopsided.

Thanks for the input....

I think I'm going to leave the duct black - I really like it's "oversized" look - gives the front end a different agressive look.

As for ditching the front lip - I built an integrated splitter/undertray specifically for that lip so it's going to stay. It too is CF as is the Benen rear duckbill - I like painted carbon fiber
