just last nite i notice a wierd ticking noise from my car...i have been boosted for only 1500 miles on my stock gsr...the tick comes on when there is load on the motor...at idle u cant hear it, but when u rev it, the tick comes on a little...its louder when u drive the car and have load on it...if it cruises u cant hear it anymore...only on acceleration...its not coming from my engine though i think...sounds like its coming from where all the turbo components lay(turbo, mani, dp)...still runs fine and turbo still spools good...please help me out...im new to this...what can cause this?

 

can you describe it a little more....

have someone slowly bring your car under load while its parked and get under the hood and listen to where it is coming from...if its coming from the turbo/manifold/downpipe area....it could just be those "metal clicks" you hear if you lie down on the ground next to your car after you turn it off...from your exhaust.

 

it doesnt tick after u turn it off...it ticks faster with the rev of the engine if your accelerating...doesnt tick when your at the same idle...only ticks when there is load on the engine and the ticks speeds up with rpm...its not coming from the engine though when u listen to it...so i know its not valves or anything...seems like its coming from the turbo mani area...can the turbo tick?...im thinking it mite have to do with loose bolt, exhaust leak, or something like that

 

Exhaust leak most likely. An exhuast leak will create a ticking noise that only occurs when the engine is under moderate load.

i wouldnt imagine it would ping just free revving or even under load at low rpms, its probably your injectors

I have the DSM 450's and they are pretty loud. It is most likely the injectors clicking

 

its not pinging...im thinking its more likely leak instead of injectors...the sound isnt coming from back there...its coming from the front or the engine...im running rc 550cc saturated injectors...turboed my car about a month, just started hearing this two nites ago...thanks for the info guys

 

found out what i think is my problem...i blew out the wastegate gasket...so i just took it out...do u guys think it would be alrite?
