Slight damage to crank...will it affect anythinig?
I accidently dropped a wrench against my crank today. I was planning on selling it and wanted your opinions about the effects of it before a buyer picks it up. Is it safe to run this crank?

bah, I'd say it's fine. Doesn't look like it took too much material off. When you think about all the oil that gets on the crank too, it must weigh the same, if not more, than the material taken off there so I'd say it's fine.

Damn Rod, that must have been one heavy wrench
Crank looks fine, just make sure that no material is hanging off that might catch the rod as it rotates.

If the the burr from the ding can't touch the rod, I think it's fine. If it could possibly score the rod, the rod would have a reduced fatigue strengh, and you should carefully file or grind the burr down. Good luck.

Todd is spot on. Cranks are pretty tuff, won't even attempt knife edging at home no more.

Used a grinder. Was like working on Kryptonite. Took 2 weeks of blood sweat and tears to even do mild profiling. I'll just say look to the cyl. for hp and not the crank.
