Is it even possible to go through a stock trannsmission in under 18,000 miles in a EX?

I launch probably once or twice a week

All stock interior tranny wise

could it go that quick

clutch doctors say these items are gone :

Syncro's need replacement
Slider
spider something
1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears are toast
clutch is gone for
flywheel needs replacement
bearings are done for

say it would be easier to install a used trannsmission

they want $1700
is this accurate?

 

you can get a whole new motor swap for that much...

 

under 18k? yeah if you beat the hell out of it every day, and dont know how to shift. they said the clutch was bad too. so i would asume its because of driving it incorrectly. even when you launch and race a clutch should last longer than that.

 

1700 for a transmission? Wow. I would say to browse the classifieds and see if you could pick up a used tranny for less. Then you could possibly get a better geared one too. Besides, what seems wrong w/the tranny?

 

i have been racing for almost 2 years now so. I know how to shift and do all the proper racing manouvers for engine control but not really informed on trannsmissions.

raced a 89 hatch with a B20.

friends car. atleast i think it was a 89' for about 2 weeks

04' BMW M3 for about a month while my dad was out of town.

both mashed in. Didnt kill the car with the clutch.

those are like some $4000 minimum and i just wanna get a ahold of a ls tranny or a integra GSR and dont do a motor swap

You think Clutch Doctor's is just a little money hungry or are these numbers accurate?

 

i dont know about the accuracy, but i think ive seen some ls trannys an the classifieds for way cheap, 3 figures at the most

Ive gone thro tranny's in less then 1k miles, its all in how you drive it.

Whats it doing? that seems pretty damned expensive

 

Get another used unit for $150 and call it a day.

sounds like i have a rotory engine

clutch pedal is all the way to the floor and i slam into 3rd but still grinds but sucks the shifter into the 3rd slot

and engine vibration rattle at 6000 to 6700 rpm's

 

transmission places charge an outrageous amount, stay away from them

the do this because they replace everything in the tranny, because they offer you a warranty, if something they did not replace broke, they would be liable.

Get a used tranny from a local junkyard, or even support honda-tech and get one from someone one here.

ps...keep you motor, you obviously do not know enough about motors to attempt a motor swap. Look into a carb legal turbo kit, it will give you the most power for the least money/hassles.
