fuel pump going nuts...
my fuel pump decides to work only if i give it a "jump". i give it straight 12 volts from the radio and the car turns on..i take away the 12 volts and the fuel pump decides to work like normal for a while...i know there something wrong in the wiring somewhere...what should i check? i checkedand cleaned all my grounds especially the one on the thermo, also sometimes with the fuel pump does go off by itself the car won't turn on still...but if i give it 12 volts it'll turn on...i was thinking maybe the fuel pump is old and dying?
Why do you think the pump itself is going bad if it always works good when you give it direct power?
I'd look at the main relay or the wiring from there back to the pump.

I think its going bad because whwn it does prime on its own the car still won't turn on..it turns on for a split second and dies, I don't think its the main relay because the relay sends power to the ecu and my ecu light does go on like normal, all the wiring seems fine..I'm stumped...its a 22 in a hatch and I'm using a p13...I didn't wire up my resister box yet...would that be a cause of this?

They do that. Have you checked the main relay for cracked solder joints?

They don't both have to fail at the same time... Cracked solder joints are common in those, so power is OK to ECU & relays, only the fuelpump power is gone.

this is for the people who search and always end up not reading the outcome...
i fixed the problem, it was a main relay
i would never had thought it was a relay cause it was always working fine till the swap, and i never knew that it had 2 relays...thanks for the help guys!
