How to replace alternator on 91CRX.
Hey. I did a search, but didnt turn up anything specific to a 1991 model honda.
My crx does not seem to be charging the battery when the car is on or being revved etc. I put a load tester on the battery, and when I started the car it showed about 13 volts. When I revved the engine up to 3000rpm, the load tester still showed 13volts, when (I assume) it should of jumped up a bit to approx 13.8 or 14 etc. (For comparison, I put the tester on my fathers vehicle, and it showed 13v when started, then goes up to 14 volts when he revvs the engine.)
From what I can tell, the alternator is not charging the battery.
I have been stranded on the road because of this. My car would just die. I would get another car and jump start the battery using jumper cables, but my CRX would just last a few minutes and die again. This is AFTER I replaced the battery.
Sooooooo.
What is the process in order to replace the alternator on a 1991 CRX? I looks like a real pain in the *** to replace. I need to get this done ASAP.
Thanks.

just take out the bolts holding the alt. on. be careful of the wires too. people will argue about taking it out from the bottom or top. i took my alt. out from the top it is also a 91 crx. i just had to disconnect something from the brake booster. i 4got what though. look around that area n youll see wat im talking about.
yeah. it sounds like the regulator in the alt took a crap, easier to just get a new one. take out the battery first (so you don't short out the positive wire to anything) and then just unbolt it remembering where the wires go. like wallace said, it's debatable whether up or down is easier, both are a little of a pain, but both can be done.
good luck.
good luck.
