Default Transmission clank

I've got a 94 Accord EX 5-speed with 90K that I bought used. Sometimes (and more often recently) it is hard to get the gear to go all the way into reverse, and it will sometimes make a loud short clanking sound when it does. Other gears get difficult sometimes, like I have to force/wiggle it more than shift smooth, but the noise is only in reverse. The clutch is all the way in of course.

What could this be? Annoyance, or am I shifting with a time bomb? The clutch is beginning to show minor signs of slippage in first, but it's no too bad and I'd rather wait to replace it since I'm broke- would that help at all or no? I haven't flushed the tranny fluid since I got it, and the level was fine last time I checked. Thanks.

The fluid might be full but was there any contaminants in them. Do any of your gears grind by chance? Might be your clutch goin out.

No grinding, although first is starting to slip when I go uphill or something. I only hear the loud metallic clanking noise when shifting from a stop to reverse. Sometimes first or second or reverse will be difficult to get all the way into position, like I have to force it the last inch or so, but no noise.

Will a typical clutch replacement fix my problems? I'd rather not invest much more than that in this car. I was going to do the timing belt soon, but if it's going to be timing belt and complete tranny, then I may have to let her go.

So in neutral it will clank also huh? I kno for sure my clutch is going out cuz its slippin and i have to force reverse that last inch like you. But the only clank noise I hear is when i pop it in reverse that last inch. But it could be something else.

No, the clank is only from neutral to reverse. I guess my main question is will a clutch replacement fix my problem, or is there something morre serious with my gears?
