i think it has to to with his throttle but what.. i have never learned what that part is for... for a better description of what the sound is it sounds like a r/c car.. or an alectric motor sound..

Eventhough your pics aren't clear as to what area of the engine bay you are reffering to. Have you eliminated a worn or loose belt? I have heard a similar noise when my belt was slipping on my civic.

IVE SAID THAT THAT WAS THE CLOSEST PIC I CAN FIND TO THE ENGINE SET UP... YES THAT IS NOT AN F22A BUT ITS LAYOUT IS THE SAME... THE NOISE IS COMMING FROM THAT CIRCLED AREA in the A20....the lower rigth side area

ive heard belts slipping before those sound more of a high pitch sqealing noise... this noies that i heard was almost the sound like a RC cars motor ... and it made teh sound at idle at all times... the faster he went the louder it got..

its posible to run without an alternator? i thought the car would die.. but thats sounds like a good idea to try.. the wierd thing is that it only started to do this when he shifted to third that night.. but i gues that this was going to hapen sooner or later.. how har is it to put the belt back on once we have it off? is it a matter of popping it off or is it to tight for that ?

hmm a water pump? does it spin also... what ever is making this sound spins becuase when he gives it gas in neutral.. the more the rpms rise the louder and faster revving the sound it gets

i did not say run it without an alternator belt i said remove belt and start engine see if noise goes away ,,,it is just for a diagnostic purpose ,,no u cannot leave alt belt off and drive car for a long time it will die '
as for removing the alt belt. loosen up both upper and lowrr alt bolts. then from the front there is a 10mm bolts that is the adjuster bolt go counterclock wise to reduce belt tension remove belt when loose enough,,,,,,,do not unscrew adjuster bolt totally it might be a little pain to put back in so just do it enough to be able to slip belt off ........

and yes the water pump spins anythime engine is running it is driven by the timing belt

oh ok i'll try that thanx.. i didnt know the car would even start with the alternator taken off..i wasnt planning on tell him to drive it... but i thought the car would just start and die shortly after... is there anyway to diagnos the water pump..?
