radiator fan doesn't work!
i need help. my radiator fan does not turn on. i checked the relay but i cant tell if its bad or not. no blown fuses. i've heard of jumping it but i dont even know where or how to begin.
so far it hasn't overheated or reached the middle marker but it climbs up fast. not only that, i have a small exhaust leak from the 2 piece header. i want to take it to a dealership but its 60 miles away and if it overheats on the way there i'll be stuck like the cars i see on the side of the road.

heres the easy way out. it worked for me. if u have 2 fans and one of them decides to stop working, take the positive wire from the working fan to the positive of the none workin fan. bam! now they both turn on worked for me.
I have my radiator fan running constantly, I had a friend of mine wire it to the power window fuse, so whenever my car is in the on position, my fan turns on . . re wire the fan so it can run all the time. . it's definitely needed for turbo setups due to the hot engine temp.
first, check to see if the fan still works, the motor for the fan may be blown . .

i dont know how long the radiator fan has been down but the a/c fan was working 2 months ago. the temp climbs up extremely fast but it never passes the middle marker.
i would love to rewire it but i'm definitely not an electrical guy. do you got some DIY steps.

absolutley not. do wat that one kid did. it doesnt take a genuis to figure it out. run a wire from the positive window fuse to both ur postive fans so wen u turn the car on the fans will alays be cooling the engine. it should take 5 mins the longest. problem solved.

first check your fuses. switch relays with a good known one. also check to see if your getting power and ground at the radiator fan connector. keep in mind that
you will only get power once car reaches up to a temperture that allows the cooling fan switch to close and allows power to flow through circuit. or another quik check is to jump the cooling fan switch which is located on the thermostat housing which is where the lower radiator hose connects to the block. but to me it sounds like your thermostat in stuck open which is allowing coolant to constanly flow not allowing the engine to heat up which is not allowing the cooling fan switch to close cuz that cooling fan switch closes when it reaches a certain temperature. to check that allow car warm up to normal operating temperature. they should both get pretty hot and be about the same temperature. but since you car is not overheating with you cooling fan not coming on it sounds like your thermostat. normally a car would overheat with the cooling fan not working.

its f'in hot outside. honda motors dont take overheating worth a damn. hook that bad boy up direct with a 3 dollar autozone relay. get some #8(?) wire and hook it up so the relay enerqises when the key turns on. do not risk overheating your car whatever you do. once you get this hooked up, just leave it. it does not hurt anything to have your fan on all of the time. better than buying a new engine.

hum but how will i know if its the switch is bad? i didn't check the thermostat but will i have to drain the coolant to get to it?

will it hurt the engine letting the coolant free flow constantly like that cuz i did realize that coolant is like vanishing. there's no leaks but i'm keep having to refill the reserve after i drive.

The thermostat is usually ALREADY open when your fans do turn on. The thermostat opens up as your car heats up to allow coolant to flow through the block. The fans also turn on when your cars already heated up...therefore logically the fans turn on even with the thermostat open.
Check the connectors for the fans. Also sometimes if the fan motor is blown, if you take a prybar and knock on the fan motor casing, it will make em work again (shortyly). If thats the case replace the fan motor.

i definitely think its my thermo switch but how do i access it. drain coolant to get to the bottom hose right?
i'm losing coolant from the reservoir and i think its still in the engine but for some reason its not returning. will this effect my engine.

okay i know the fans work since i unplugged the harness to the switch and jumped them with a paperclip. so i definitely know its switch.
my question now is...Is it safe have that harness unplugged from the switch and leave the paper clip in there.

I probably wouldn't leave the paper clip in there because your asking for a fire or some melted wires. Kinda sounds like your fan switch, I think your engine light would come on though...? If you need to change your fan switch though thats not that bad of a job. I think i payed like 15-20 dollars for the fan switch and its just a matter of getting everything out of the way to get at the swith. Remove the old one, put some teflon tape on the new one and tighten it down. The haynes repair manual will show you how to do it. Good luck bud, cooling problems are always the most fun.
