Default Valve Noise??

alright im at a loss here, after my engine build, i still have a valve tick, the head was checked at the time of the build and it came out fine no bent valves nothing, I readjusted them today and put them all as tight as recomended, it still has a ticking and yes im sure its the valves, ive had numerous people look at it, and they all tell me its the valves, i really dont know what else to do, Is there anything else that can make this noise, its not bad and u dont notice it with the hood shut really, just a ticking that goes away with rev, is there anything else it can be??? and im pretty sure its not the injectors either??

first off....it may be helpful to know what kind of motor you have. f22, h23, h22, 350! Second off..most vtec motors...assuming you have one...will always have a certain amount of valve ticking. I had the some thing you were having and come to find out, i had busted valve guides and that was causing my valves to do some moving around that they shouldnt. You said the ticking isnt bad and if you can only hear it with the hood up, then i wouldnt worry about it. That is normal for a motor to have some very small quiet ticking. After all, metal is hitting metal. So try and diagnose the ticking some more and let us know a little more detail so that we can help you! Good luck!

Good point. For some reason I always think people are asking questions about H22's...
